The Mending Summer

 by Ali Standish

Genre:  Realistic Fiction, Fantasy

Georgia feels like her family is falling apart.  Her mom is back in school trying to get a biology degree and her dad is staying out late and when he comes home he isn't acting himself.  He walks a little wobbly, and sings just a little bit too loud.  Her mom decides that the best thing would be for Georgia to spend the summer in the country with her Aunt Marigold, but Georgia is tired of the adults in her life who won't talk to her about what is going on.  When Georgia arrives in the country, she finds a magical lake in the woods and meets a new friend, Angela, who seems to have secrets of her own.  Georgia is determined to get to the bottom of all of the secrets and force the people in her life to tell it to her straight.
