Count Me in

 by Varsha Bajaj

Genre:  Realistic Fiction

Karina wouldn't say that she and her next door neighbor, Chris, are friends.  They aren't really enemies, except for when he hangs out with his pack of obnoxious friends. Karina is excited that her grandfather is coming to live with their family, but is surprised when her parents suggest that he work as a math tutor at her school.  And who is her grandfather's first student?  Her next door neighbor, Chris.  As Chris and her Papa start to spend more time together, Karina begins to see a whole new side of Chris.  Things are going well until a stranger targets the three of them in a hate crime.  Will Karina find a way to stand up to hate and speak up for her grandfather and others who are victims of hate crimes?
